The Atlanta Hawks started out as a minor league rag tag team in 1946 in Buffalo and moved after just 13 games to Molina, Illinois, where the name of "Black hawks" quickly caught on and their championship came just a few years later when a player named Bob Pettit scored 50 points in a single game. moving to Atlanta in 1966, they were bought out by Ted Turner in 1976, quickly turning it into a money making machine. They play their home games at the Phillips Arena.
