They would not lose their reign as the best team in the NFL until the Cowboys rose to glory in the 90's.

When Joe Montana was shipped off to Kansas City at the end of his career, Steve Young filled his spot at quarterback and never missed a beat. In 1994, he and long time receiver Jerry Rice and running back Ricky Watters, led the team back to the Super Bowl where they won their fifth championship. After this win, they had accumulated more Super Bowl victories than any other team in the league.
