Nuggets History
The Denver Nuggets were one of four teams that were absorbed by the NBA in 1976 when the ABA dissolved (the other three were the New York Nets, Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs). Although it took them a few years to establish themselves, the early 1980s showed the Nuggets with an electric offense. They set an NBA record by averaging 126.5 points per game and setting a record by having an unbelievable 136 consecutive games scoring 100 points or more. Making the playoffs seven years in a row in the 2000s, they continue to struggle in the postseason. They play their home games at Pepsi Center.
Pepsi Center is a 19,155 seat arena with five levels of seating, 95 luxury suites, and a grill called the Blue Sky Restaurant, and a 3200 square foot sporting good shop called "Altitude Authentics", housing the best in licensed Nuggets and Avalanche merchandise. Each of the arena's stanchions weigh roughly 3300 pounds and it is very difficult to tip any of them over. The groundskeepers keep up with the nets, changing them roughly every 5 games or as needed.
