Though the name of the stadium has changed due to a corporate buy out of the naming rights, INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium is one of the premier football stadiums in the country. Being situated a mile above sea level, the thin air at this altitude makes long passes a little longer when a game is played here. Matching the Broncos great passing attack, get tickets to watch the deepest passes there are in the NFL.
Denver Broncos History
In 1960, The Denver Broncos came into existence when they were added to the AFL, another football league at the time set up to rival the older NFL. The Broncos have always been one of the more successful AFL and later AFC teams as they beat the Patriots in their inaugural game. This would only be the start as this team would go on to have a golden period that would produce two Super Bowl titles.
For over 50 years, the Broncos have been one of the classiest organizations in the NFL. They have accumulated a total of four championships since being founded, two Super Bowl rings and two AFL championships before the merger. They are usually in the hunt for the playoffs as they have made it to them twenty times in total since the merger in 1970.
The golden age for this club started after the "Orange Crush" defensive unit of the late 1970's worked their way through. In 1983, the Broncos traded for John Elway and the rest, as they say, is history. Under Head Coach Dan Reeves, the Broncos made it to three Super Bowls in the late 1980's but couldn't win the big game, one of which was the most lopsided loss in Super Bowl history. However, when they hired Mike Shanahan as Head Coach in 1995, the team retooled and got back to the Super Bowl in '97 and 1998. They would win both of these, capping the stellar careers of John Elway and running back Terrell Davis.
